What is a live-in nursing job?
A private live-in nurse provides expert one-to-one medical care and support to individuals in the comfort of their own homes. Live-in nurses stay with their clients, offering round-the-clock clinical care and assistance tailored to their specific needs. This can include managing complex medical conditions, administering medication, wound care, and supporting rehabilitation or palliative care. By living with the client, the nurse builds a close, trusting relationship, ensuring continuity of care and promoting their overall well-being. Live-in nursing allows individuals to maintain their independence and quality of life at home while receiving the highest standard of professional medical care.
Live-in nurses collaborate closely with healthcare teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to care, adjusting strategies as needed to improve health outcomes. Typically, clients are supported by a team of nurses who rotate shifts, allowing for thorough handovers and consistent quality of care.
As a Consultus nurse you will bring a wealth of skills and knowledge through working in acute hospitals or community settings to your role. Our nurses are experienced in the following areas of nursing:
Administration of medication, injections and monitoring syringe drivers
Pressure area care
Continence and catheter care
Stoma care
PEG feeds
Tracheostomy care and suctioning
Safe moving, positioning and hoisting
Health promotion and recuperation
Healthy eating and management of dietary requirements
