Keynote Speaker: Beth Britton

We are delighted to welcome Beth Britton as our keynote speaker. Beth is a former carer to her father who had vascular dementia for 19 years. She is an expert content creator who won ‘Best Independent Voice on Older People’s Issues’ and is the author of D4Dementia, one of the foremost dementia blogs in the world. Beth also provides consultancy services to social care providers, including training and mentoring, and has worked with a variety of organisations including the Dept for Health and Social Care, CQC, PHE and NICE. Beth’s campaigning, including being a speaker and media spokesperson, centres around improving dementia care and support, the challenges in social care and issues facing family carers. Beth was the winner of Outstanding Contribution to Dementia Care at the 2024 Dementia Care Awards. 

Beth has been described as offering ‘unparalleled insight’, demonstrating ‘knowledge, experience and expertise in dementia that is second-to-none’, having a ‘gifted ability to convey ideas and experiences’, being a ‘constant unyielding advocate of the intrinsic value and diversity of each individual living with dementia’, and possessing ‘personal experience, commitment and understanding that challenges us all to do better’. 

 

Meet our guest speakers 

We’re proud to present an expert panel of speakers who are passionate about helping families navigate the complexities of later-life care. Each brings a unique perspective and specialist knowledge to the event: 

Raj Senniappan

Topic: Falls prevention talk  

Raj specialises in occupational therapy, with over 17 years of experience in health and social care. He is the founder of Therapies on Thames, a rehabilitation service focusing on enhancing the quality of life, independence, and safety of the elderly, particularly those recovering from illness or injury.  

Raj is a registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Additionally, he is a certified Postural Stability Instructor. His expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedics (such as total knee and hip replacements), neurological conditions like strokes and Parkinson's disease, falls prevention, and dementia care. Raj is also known for his work in home modifications and community integration post-neurological injury. His services include Home visit therapy, Inpatient rehabilitation and Care home in-reach services.

Andrea Kershaw 

Topic: Planning legal matters in your elderly years 
Andrea is a highly experienced solicitor and Partner in the Private Client department at Thackray Williams LLP, based in the firm’s Sevenoaks office. Specialising in wills and tax planning, estate administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Court of Protection matters, Andrea provides expert guidance with empathy and clarity, supporting clients through some of life’s most sensitive and significant moments. 

A full member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly), Andrea is committed to supporting older and vulnerable clients with compassion and professionalism. She is consistently praised by clients for her approachable nature, ability to explain complex legal issues clearly, and her supportive, patient approach. 

Toby Winyard

Topic: Financing care in later life 

Toby began his professional journey at the age of 18 in London and has spent the past 27 years working in a corporate environment, including a period running his own business. Encouraged by his own financial adviser, he transitioned into his current role, which he describes as his dream job. 

As a financial adviser, Toby thrives on the variety his work offers and, more importantly, the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether its helping clients save tax, make their money work harder, protect their assets, or feel confident about retirement, he finds great reward in delivering tangible value to individuals and businesses alike. 

Toby is known for his clear, down-to-earth communication style. He helps clients understand the changes they need to make to reach their financial goals by breaking down complex concepts into plain English and using visual software tools to bring plans to life. This approach empowers his clients to make informed decisions and stay on track with a regularly reviewed plan they can trust.
