Our very talented Live-in Carer Catherine Shepherd recently entered a writing competition, set up by The Care Workers charity.
Their annual competition gives carers the opportunity to share their experience working in the sector, and this year has been like no other, so they were keen for everyone to showcase their creativity, portraying their feelings and thoughts of the year.
The theme of the competition was ‘Connection’, which could be interpreted in many ways. As you read Catherine’s entry you will instantly feel the connection between her and her client, but also to their memories.
The magical part of this story, although the characters are fictional they are based on her time with a client or sadly passed away in April. After being crowned the winner a member of her family got in touch and gifted her the very painting she describes in the story.
