Consultus induction course
This comprehensive course provides new carers with the skills and understanding required to ensure you are well prepared for your caring role and equipped to meet the wide-ranging needs of clients.
We have taken a blended approach to our three-part induction course which involves a combination of online and face to face training:
Part 1: you complete two e-learning courses
Part 2: you will complete two online topics
Part 3: takes place at our training centre in Tonbridge, Kent where you will attend a welcome and induction afternoon session, a timed interview appointment and complete your DBS check. This is followed by three full days of training.
The format of the three-day induction training will be:
Day 1: Sessions on basic life support, your caring role, medication, communication and recording and reporting
Day 2: Health and safety and moving and positioning, including demonstration and practice of safer moving and handling techniques, and safe use of a range of moving and positioning equipment, including a mobile and ceiling hoist.
Day 3: Sessions on food hygiene, the importance of nutrition and hydration, infection control and a person-centred approach to care. The afternoon session focuses on all aspects of personal care, including toileting, how to support clients with incontinence, catheters and colostomy or ileostomy.
“This has been an amazing learning experience for me. I feel so much more confident going out to support my client, thank you.” – FS
