BTEC Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia

This BTEC Level 2 Award is accredited by Pearson and is suitable for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of dementia while attaining a nationally recognised qualification.

This Level 2 Award consists of four mandatory units:

  • dementia awareness
  • a person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
  • the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
  • equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.

Carers undertaking this BTEC Level 2 Award will be required to attend our one-day Dementia Awareness Course, where our experienced trainers will provide you with the knowledge required to help you successfully complete all four units of this qualification.

Based on the sessions of the course, carers will be required to complete four workbooks within a set timeframe of approximately six months. You will be assigned an assessor who will support you through this qualification. Carers undertaking the BTEC qualification will be registered with, and certificated by, the awarding body Pearson, and all written work will be formally assessed and verified.

"I feel totally confident to continue with my training and to be able to care for any clients who suffers from Dementia. On-going training and carer update training is vital in our role as carers, as it helps equip the carer to do their work more effectively and confidently, which is vital to the well-being of the client." - CK
