BTEC Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia
This BTEC Level 2 Award is accredited by Pearson and is suitable for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of dementia while attaining a nationally recognised qualification.
Carers undertaking this BTEC Level 2 Award will attend our one-day Dementia Awareness Course where our experienced trainers will provide you with the knowledge required to help you successfully complete all four units of this qualification. On completion of the one-day course you will be given theory work to undertake in your own time, using a combination of the knowledge gained during the course and any further research or reading you feel will assist you.
Based on the four units of this BTEC qualification, each of the four workbooks confirm and determine understanding of these key elements of dementia care. You will be set a reasonable timeframe in which to complete the workbooks and return them to the training team for assessment and verification. You will be assigned an assessor who will support you through this qualification, and it is expected that you fulfil the coursework requirements within 24 weeks.
The Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia consists of four mandatory units:
The facts about dementia and how it affects the brain. How it affects individuals in different ways, physically and cognitively.
A person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
Supporting individuality in relational to treatment, approach and working within the team of others.
Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
Using positive communication techniques and how dementia can affect and be affected by dementia.
Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
How to appropriately engage clients in a meaningful and diverse manner.
