Our Carer Selection Process

Once we have received your pre-selection questions and you have successfully met the criteria, our Recruitment Team will contact you to discuss your skills and experience. Having spoken to you, we will send you an online application form to complete. We will be talking to you while you complete your form to make sure we have all the information we need, including your last 10 years' work history and details for us to apply for two written and two verbal references.

From there, we will book you on to our 4-day induction course, based in Tonbridge, Kent, which ensures that you receive the highest level of training and acquire the skills to comfortably care for our clients. Your first day of induction training will include a welcome by the Recruitment Manager and an informative group discussion providing advice and guidance on becoming a live-in carer and what to expect from your Consultus journey.

You will then be greeted by our DBS Department who will support you through the DBS process, followed by a one-to-one interview with the Care Consultant who will start matching your skills and experience to our clients' needs. The DBS costs £50, plus £13 to join the Online Update Service. It is Consultus’ policy for all carers to renew their DBS annually by joining the Online Update Service.​

We require a deposit from you on day one of your induction course of £50 which will be refunded to you after the completion of 42 days’ work which equals to 3 x 2 weeks bookings.

On successful completion of your 3 x 2 weeks bookings you will be awarded the Consultus Certificate, which is mapped, where relevant, to the National Occupational Standards.

We also have Carer House accommodation available to you, close to our Head Office. Our Carer Houses offers spacious rooms, cooking and washing facilities; a lovely home-from-home environment with breakfast included at a cost of £36 per night.
