Why You Should Care at Christmas Time

For many Christmas is a happy time. Family and friends gather to eat, drink and be merry. But for some lonely elders this is not the case.

They have memories of Christmas past but their Christmas present and future is unknown. No longer able to cook the turkey, too infirm to shop for presents for their children or grandchildren, they have lost traditions which, in effect, distance them from this festive occasion. This is where you come in.

As a Consultus carer working in the UK, you can remind your client that this time is special; help them rejoice in the season and give them new memories to enjoy.  We know people are more satisfied with their lives when they help others, so isn’t this the best possible time of year to help?  Carers are often embraced by a client’s family, almost as a new family member, and sharing the magic of Christmas is rewarding for all.

Our carers gravitate to us from all four corners of the world and celebrate seasonal times in diverse ways, so listening or adding to a client’s Christmas tradition may hold a new interest for both parties.  Being self-employed means you can work around commitments, helping clients as and when you can.  Clients generally prefer carers to stay for two weeks, however, bookings around Christmas can be longer or shorter to cover the holidays.

We have two luxury houses in Kent providing accommodation for carers in training or in between assignments at subsidised rates.  Our houses are described by carers as their “Home away from Home”.

Finally, we have to say our rates of pay over Christmas are great!  Special days and bank holiday rates are doubled and many of our carers take advantage of these rates to treat themselves to a holiday when flights are cheaper and they are in need of a well earned rest.

Consultus knows our carers enhance the lives of our clients and this is never truer than over the Christmas holidays. The feedback we receive every year about our carers is incredible!
If you can help over the Christmas holidays, we are here to support and guide you every step of the way.
