Our founder, Mrs Anne Stevens, started her employment agency in 1962 with the conviction that anyone with domestic difficulties could be helped, whatever their need. The response from the public was extraordinary and the requests from her private clientele covered every domestic challenge.

At first, since she had little room to run her new business inside her home, Anne built a lean-to shed in her garden. By 1967 the business had become so successful that larger premises were needed and Consultus moved into 17 London Road, backing onto the grounds of Tonbridge School.

This beautiful building remains our head office today, housing the Care at Home and Training departments as well as the visitors’ reception area. We continue to grow and in 2009 took up additional residence in another building, just across the road. No.4 London Road now accommodates the Consultus Nursing at Home department, together with the accounts, IT and marketing departments.

Over the years, Live-in Care and Live-in Nursing has become the Consultus area of specialism. We look after elderly, frail and disabled people, as well as the chronically and terminally ill. Today, our Live-in Carers and Live-in Nurses maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of many hundreds of people, keeping alive their dreams of living as independently as possible in the security of their own homes, surrounded by their possessions, memories and the people they love.

  • It is my belief and experience that during any period of frailty or vulnerability, people are happiest and most content in their own homes. 20/10/2015
