Consultus Carer Training

Consultus Carers can benefit from a wide variety of in-house training which has been specifically designed to meet their needs and those of our Clients

Our experienced trainers provide high quality, relevant and enjoyable training. All our trainers are nurses, with specific skills in the courses offered.

What are the benefits of the Consultus training?

Training is important for all Carers, whether experienced or new to caring. Our courses:

  • Increase self-assurance, knowledge and skills

  • Inspire greater Client confidence

  • Open up more work opportunities for our Carers

  • Increase our Carers’ earning potential

  • Address the demand for trained Carers from our Clients and their representatives

What training do you offer?

We currently offer training in the following: Induction & Manual Handling, Personal Care for the Elderly, Emergency First Aid, Working with Dementia, Stroke Awareness, Parkinson’s Disease, Manual Handling Refresher Training. For further information, please go to Our Courses.

What training do you recommend for new Carers?

Our two day Induction, Manual Handling and Personal Care for the Elderly Course is an essential tool for all new Carers. Carers can either attend Induction and Manual Handling on a Tuesday and Personal Care on a Wednesday or alternatively Personal Care on a Wednesday and Induction and Manual Handling on a Thursday. Interview and CRB checks will take place from 9.15am on the first day of training.

Is your training expensive?

No, Consultus heavily subsidises the cost of the training we provide for our Carers as we recognise the benefits our courses offer to both our Carers and Consultus. We also offer two free Distance Learning Training Courses for all new Consultus Carers. For further information on the cost of our courses, please see our Training Programme.

When does the training take place?

For our current timetable, please go to our Training Programme. For new Carers training can be arranged in conjunction with your interview; for existing Carers, training can be scheduled into a day between assignments. As one of our long term Carers, Christine Howson comments: ‘Although I had to take a day away from work, this was a small price to pay for the confidence I gained’.
