Residential ‘Live-in’ Care Services
As you have probably seen in our Home
Page and Introduction,
Consultus specialises in providing carers for frail,
sick and disabled people, in their own homes. This page
goes into a little more detail about our care assistants
and how the service operates.
A live-in carer or companion may be booked for short time; perhaps following a client's stay in hospital or for respite while their family is away. Often, live-in carers are requested on a long-term or indefinite basis to provide security, personal help and assistance around the home.
Most of our clients use our services on an indefinite basis, enabling them to continue living happily and safely at home rather than moving into a residential or nursing home.
Bookings are normally of two weeks duration (nursing placements for at least two days).
Each of our carers works and lives with their client
for two weeks or so before they go home for a break,
handing over to a new carer before they leave. Favourite
carers may return again and again to give valuable
continuity of care. In many cases our service has been
provided to individual clients without interruption
for over ten years.
As well as personal care, our carers
contribute to the smooth running of the home and will
undertake light housekeeping, laundry, cooking and
baking, driving and shopping duties. It’s all
part of the Consultus service
Our carers are wonderful men and women from many walks
of life. They range from bright, compassionate young
people in their twenties to experienced care professionals,
and mature individuals who may originally have cared
for an elderly relative. Australians, New Zealanders,
South Africans and Britons form the largest national
contingents. You have the ultimate say in who you employ.
All carers undergo a face-to-face interview and prove
that they have the commitment, aptitude, compassion,
intelligence and ‘spark’ to become a Consultus
carer. They are reliable, discreet, friendly and
committed to the physical and emotional well being
of their clients. They always operate in a professional,
polite, dependable and confidential manner, and respect
the homes of clients in which they are guests. Our carers are independent, self-employed agents but benefit from excellent support and training from Consultus.
Each carer is carefully matched to a client based upon
skills, experience, personality and mutual interests.
Our highly experienced consultants fully discuss each
client’s
circumstances and requirements with him or her (or
their representative) before recommending a carer.
