Consultus Nurses
All Consultus Nurses are carefully chosen to meet a Client's particular Nursing needs and provide a source of expertise for the Client and their family
Our compassionate and committed Nurses can offer a wide range of experience in managing debilitating illnesses, providing post-operative and end-of-life Nursing, caring for older people. .
Nursing Services
Consultus Nurses can be needed for a variety of reasons:
- For a short period, following surgery or illness
- For a longer period for chronic or ongoing illness
- As respite care or help during holidays or visits home
- To help facilitate an earlier release from hospital or convalescent home
- As an alternative to long-term care in a residential Nursing home
- To oversee the work of Carers on a permanent or occasional basis
- To make a professional assessment of Nursing or care needs
Our Nurses provide general and specialist Nursing care and advice for both Clients and family members for a range of health issues. These can include:
- Administration of medication, injections and syringe drivers
- Wound and pressure area care
- Continence and catheters
- Stoma care
- Safe moving, manual handling and hoisting
- Health promotion and recuperation
- Nutrition and special diets
- PEG feeds
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Formal care plans and risk assessments
Other tasks that may be performed by our Nurses can include driving, care of family pets, shopping, cooking and light housework. They will also liaise closely with other healthcare professionals and family members as appropriate.
Hours of Work
In all situations we aim to provide continuity of care with Nurses rotating on a 2 weekly cycle. Our Nurses stay with their Clients for the duration of their assignment and Clients provide them with room and board.
Nurses are normally expected to work seven days a week and ten hours a day; this excludes a daily two hour break that is arranged between the Client and the Nurse.
Recruitment
All Consultus Nurses will have undergone the strictest selection procedure, including a two hour face-to-face interview, and must have:
- Their qualifications and documentation verified by Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- A minimum of three years post-registration experience
- Two professional references that comment on their skills and competencies
- An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check
- A record of their on-going Post-Registration Education and Practice (PREP)
