• Palliative Care

Palliative care is the care of those with a serious or life threatening illness.

At Consultus the emphasis is on helping to improve the quality of life for those people facing ill health, whilst maintaining their dignity and self respect at all times.

    Our Live-in Carers can offer:

Personal care - dressing/undressing, washing, showering, bathing, oral care, hair care, shaving, continence care and toileting

Supervision of medication – to gently remind and prompt Clients to take prescribed medication

Practical support - general housework, shopping, cooking, laundry and cleaning

Companionship – the round-the-clock reassurance and peace of mind of knowing that someone is on-hand should they be needed

Emotional support – for both Clients and their families

Consultus palliative home Carers are often used:

    • When symptoms are controlled by medication and the need for trained medical intervention is not required
    • As an ongoing support between visits from medical professionals
    • For respite care when family members need a break from the responsibility of 24/7 care
    • As an additional support for family Carers on a day-to-day basis

During periods when qualified nursing care is required, a Consultus Nurse - experienced in the nursing care of palliative patients - can be arranged to offer additional or alternative 24/7 support.
