One of the advantages of joining Consultus is our own in-house Training Department - ideal preparation for the role as a Live in Carer. 

Consultus' reputation is built upon the standard of service we and our Carers provide to Clients, so it is important to offer Carers  the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required for their role.

The Training Department is managed by nurses specifically trained in the courses offered.

Induction and Manual Handling Course for Consultus Carers

The one day Induction and Manual Handling Course can be pre-booked for the day of the Carer's interview or other visit to the Head Office in Kent. Manual Handling helps the Carer to understand the best ways to move Clients safely so as to lessen the risk of falls and to protect them from back injuries. The course is part practical and part theoretical distance learning and a Certificate of Attendance and Completion will be awarded to the Carer.  Consultus subsidise the cost of this Course, the Carer's contribution is just £50.

It is recommend that Carers update their manual handling skills every two years.

Distance Learning Training Courses for Consultus Carers

Consultus offers a variety of accredited, certificated distance learning training courses at heavily subsidised prices.  Courses cost from £7 each – the first two are free to all new Consultus Carers. The following packs are available:-:

  • Safe Handing of Medicine - 3 Part Course (£7 each or £18 for all three)

Each course underpins NVQ level 2 in Care and will prove useful should you go on to take the qualification.
