What will I be expected to do whilst on a booking?
Carers duties vary from Client to Client and most likely include personal care, supervision of medication, domestic chores and companionship. Only Registered Nurses are permitted to carry out nursing tasks such as wound care and injections.
All Carers are fully briefed about the Client before accepting the booking.
Clients often have a car that they want the Carer to drive on their behalf but it is essential that Carers in these bookings hold a valid driving licence and that the Client arranges for the appropriate insurance cover. If you use your own vehicle for business use you should have the appropriate level of insurance.
Carers work an average ten to twelve hour day (not necessarily consecutive hours) but must always be on hand to help the Client if needed. Carers can claim an agreed additional sum if called during the night (as per our quoted pay rates).
At the end of the booking the outgoing Carer updates the incoming Carer on the Client’s needs and routine etc. It is usual for the outgoing Carer to launder their sheets and remake the bed for the replacement.
